I'm Back on Fosstodon

In early 2021, when then-Twitter was thriving during lockdown, I was exploring federated social networks. I decided to try Mastodon as it was the closest alternative to closed-source Twitter. After browsing through suggested servers, Fosstodon caught my attention, and I signed up.

I started learning how the timeline works and got my bare minimum account setup. I discovered many people there who believed in free open web & who also inspired me to have my own little space on the internet - personal blog.

I stayed on Fosstodon for a while, but when things calmed down and returned to normal, I became busy with academics and no longer was in the position to participate in online social interactions. So, I decided to delete my first account. However, I created a new account to reserve my username @cosmicqbit.

Fast forward to Dec 2023. A lot of things changed in last two years, especially after Melon Tusk did his thing with Bird App. Mastodon has grown immesely as has Fosstodon - my favorite instance and the best for technology enthusiasts.

Now I have decided to return to Fosstodon to learn and network with great minds there. I already know many people from my RSS reader who are on Mastodon, such as Kev Quirk, who is also the owner of the Fosstodon instance.

If you want to connect with me, you can either open this link or search for @[email protected] on Mastodon. As Fosstodon is now invite only, if you need an invitation, feel free to reach out.

Let’s meet on the federated net. See you there! 🙂
